First finishes

Happy New Year, happy new decade, happy new hats! That's a lot of happiness in one sentence. lol

I started the new year off in another country helping my daughter move to Japan. After all the work was done, I spent the holidays with her before returning home. After the long day of travel and overcoming jet lag, I was ready to receive the calming benefit of knitting hats. These hats, along with a couple done up in December, will be donated to the December/January IBK monthly charity group. This month they will be distributed to local charities in New Jersey. (Have I mentioned how much I love our monthly charities?)

Again I made all three caps using Susan B. Anderson's Simple Baby Cap 1 (found in her Itty Bitty Hats book). All of them used Berroco Comfort yarn on a size 6 needle. For the Berry hat I incorporated Susan's Very Berry Hat (available on Ravelry or Blue Sky Fibers). On the Frog hat I used the ears from the Bunny Tail pattern (also in the Itty Bitty Hats book). Details on my modifications for both hats can be found on my Ravelry projects page.

My goal this year is to use more yarn than I bring in. Then I look in my bin of Comfort yarn and realize there really isn't a lot of traditional "girl" colors. Since I don't intend to purchase new yarn I really need to push myself to find combinations to create hats that would be appealing to a wider range of parents. Let's see how well I do with my output vs. intake. lol
