A little of this, a bit of that and yes...a hat

As you may or may not know, my daughter is in the Navy. Currently stationed in Japan, assigned to the USS Germantown, currently sailing the waters of the Indo-Pacific Region. I'm always sending her goodies boxes of food, candy, toiletries, etc. On her current list was soap sacks. What? A knitter is not going to buy those when we can custom make them. Right?

She uses Lush hair and conditioner bar soap so I ordered the tins for sizing help, found a pattern on Ravelry, pulled out some KnitPick Dishie in her favorite color - purple, and got started. Now hopefully they work. If nothing else it will girl up the male shower area. lol

With Valentine's Day this month I thought I would knit up my mom a couple of new dishcloths just because. I pulled out the red I thought she had and made the Heart Cloth from Kris Knits Valentine's Day Cloths, along with a gold The Almost Lost Washcloth (which I need to take a picture of, oops). After I finished it I thought it looked to bright so I pulled a darker red, knit that up. Gave that to mom only to realize the first red was the right one, but I had mailed that dishcloth off in a card to a friend. Soooo...I knit up a third heart dishcloth to replace the one I had brought mom originally. lol

This is the darker red dishcloth because it photographs much better than the brighter one that I gave mom. But essentially they look the same.

And...I did make a hat this month. A couple of baby hats actually, but this one is the cutest. Using my favorite, Simple Baby Cap 1 by Susan B. Anderson. Using Berroco Comfort and adding some slip stitched stripes. Easy, quick, simple, just like the name implies. lol

Details of all these projects can be found on my Ravelry projects page. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. What an awesome mama you are. Glad packages are easily accessible for her to receive. So smart she is to use bar shampoo and conditioner. The baby hat is cute too.
